'Typography and decoration is nonsense' is a quote by Max Bill from 1953. The essay 'The Sin of Decoration' analyses the gender constructions inherent in modernism and the role played by the rejection of the decorative in relation to this. This study motivated the creation of the Liga typeface, a set of ornaments that can be used to decorate graphic compositions and typography. The function of the ligature incorporates variation and interaction in the typeface. The 26 main characters can be combined to form new ornaments.
